This is from the Target Exclusive Predicons Rising line. It is one of two Ultimate Class Beast Hunters Transformers, the other being Optimus Prime, of course. I suppose this is the replacement for the Leader Class. Anyway, This Predaking is a bit more size appropriate than the Voyager one.
It is a little hard to tell, but Predaking is supposed to have “Fire Breath”. What that is, is the eyes and horn light up. In robot mode, the eyes and parts in the chest light up. It is very underwhelming. Some growling or something would have been nice. Also, the head and neck of the dragon is not poseable because it is all spring loaded to light up when a lever on the neck is pressed. One of the good points of the Voyager Predaking was the posability of the head and neck. This Predaking is always looking up because of the spring.
Predakings wings move and fold fairly well. They also come off, so they will not get broken if forced and they cover the battery covers on Predakings back.
The Ultimate Class is much larger than the Voyager Class.
But the Transformation is much simpler for the larger Predaking. The hind legs are the same in both modes, just in different possitions, while on the Voyager, the robot legs transformed into part of the tail and body.
Here are some more size comparisons in robot mode.
The wings set much better on the back of the Ultimate Predaking.
The dragon head just folds back onto the back. Very simple transformation here.
The main weapon is his sword that is his tail in dragon mode. Same as the voyager version, no tail articulation.
The wrist is a little weak for posing with the heavy sword. The other weapon he comes with is two crossbows. They can be held in the hand, or mounted on the wing joint or forearm.
Overall, this is a nice Predaking. It is better than the Voyager just because of the size, but I like the coloring much better also. The detail is about the same, though the Voyager has a better transformation. This one is way over priced though. Retail is almost $60. This is a $40-$45 toy at most. So I would recommend this only for a collection, not for a toy to play with, although my nephew loves it.
Dragon mode: 7 (it looks vey cool, but has vey little articulation)
Robot mode: 9
Posability: 6 ( 8 for robot mode, 4 for dragon mode)
Playability: 9
Durability: 8
Overall: 8
